Happy #EarthDay from Sappi! Today and every day we strive to drive sustainability goals to produce and deliver products in innovative and environmentally responsible ways. Last week we unveiled our 2014 Sustainability Report, and are proud to say that we have continued to make strides in driving out internal waste as measured by our 5 year sustainability goals. By 2014, we had reduced the amount of fiber and raw material waste in our paper-making operations by 14 percent over the 2011 baseline, two years ahead of our target date. We have also made significant gains in the procurement of certified fiber, reaching our goal of 65 percent one year ahead of schedule. Thanks to a consistent focus on energy efficiency and renewable energy, we are have the lowest reported carbon footprint among domestic competitors.
At Sappi, we promise to continue to set ambitious goals to minimize waste in energy, water and other raw materials, while driving sustainability beyond the gates of our mills to local communities, customers and industry partners.
